Woo Souyeon is a museum education specialist who helped lay the foundation for museum education in Korea, drawing on extensive experience in international museum practice. She worked on digital projects at the Block Museum of Art and the Art Institute of Chicago, and led teacher education initiatives at Northwestern University’s Center for Learning Technologies in Urban Schools.
In 2004, Woo became the first education specialist at the National Museum of Korea, where she planned the museum’s education programs ahead of its relocation to Yongsan. Until 2020, she developed a wide range of educational content, including programs for the Children’s Museum, international visitors, and exhibition-related learning initiatives, while contributing to the expansion of museum education and international exchange.
She has presented the National Museum of Korea’s educational strategies and achievements at major international platforms, including the ICOM General Conference and ASEMUS symposia. She also contributed to New Museum Practice in Asia, introducing Korean museum education to a global readership. She currently works as a professional docent at the National Museum of Singapore and the Changi Chapel and Museum, continuing to foster exchange between Korean and Asian museum communities.
